How a layout overhaul and rebrand supercharged client acquisition and revenue growth.
Creating a website to accurately reflect the business' character and offerings while providing a seamless user experience.
Harmonia Beauty is a small local business in South West Sydney. Only 3 years old, the business is growing every year and can't keep up with demand. Facing many challenges with the current site, the client wanted a site that made the shopping and booking systems easier while visually representing the salon.

User Research
Quantitative Data: 20 Surveys were sent to exisiting users of both mobile and website of Harmonia Beauty to determine how the current site was used and perceived. Useful insight was provided of the ways the users interact with the current website.
This was the outcome:

Qualitative Data: I gathered 4 users to complete walkthroughs of the existing site with the think aloud method to define the strengths and weaknesses of the site. These are the key points as quotes:
“I like this [Services page] especially this part [description of benefits]. I usually don’t know what to book but I like that the benefits are listed and what it’s suited for”
— User 2
“I can’t read that. It’s a bit hard to see it with that colour. It should be a bit brighter.”
— User 3
“The page is a bit confusing [Home page], I know it’s the Home page but It’s so much everywhere. I don’t know where to look….”
— User 4
The results of the conducted walkthroughs led to me to discover the most reoccurring point made by most of the users.
Pain Points
-
User's claimed to not understand certain terms when deciding which service was right for them.

Findings
Less is more!
Our client's audience is getting confused by having too many options and everything everywhere!
Whada-wah?
Most of us can't pronounce those long ingredients on the back of skincare and shampoo bottles, so why are the users expected pronounce them, let alone understand them!
Users respond better to simple and direct descriptions to identify their needs.
